'Romance' Layout by Helen {My Final Project}

Hello there Purple Pumpkin fans!
Yes I am going to miss saying that 3 times a month LOL!!
This is my last post for Purple Pumpkin - thank you for having me :)

I have had a lot of fun here with my dear old friend Vicky Varvadouka  -
10 months all in all, if you include my initial GDT.
But all good things must come to an end & I am moving on -
please don't forget about me ladies!
I hope that I have provided some inspiration to you during my time here!

You are most welcome to keep up with me on my blog HERE & come
& play along at my challenge blog - Scrap Around The World - HERE.

Sam has very generously agreed to sponsor our 4th prize there
for an entire year - THANK YOU SAM!!

On with the show!  This is how I go about creating with Purple Pumpkin products. First I choose what products I am going to use.  I wanted to do a rainbow-type layout so I selected what I could find in my stash that would help me achieve an ombre/rainbow type look.

I had a photo in mind that I wanted to use & I printed it out in black & white as it was a mobile phone photo & not the best quality.  Doing this always 'saves' less than perfect photos.  I added a vintage hue to it to tie in with the yellow tones.

I began this layout by stamping with a Prima stamp around the perimeter of where I knew the photo would go (in the centre) then I used gel medium to apply some offcut strips of burlap (hessian) that I had leftover from a previous project.

Once that was stuck down I brushed over the burlap with gesso paste then added some watercolours around the edges of the burlap.  Then I flicked on some black mist, dried everything off with my heat gun, glued my entire page to a thin sheet of chipboard to flatten it out then added some white sponging of gesso around the edges of my page.

Lastly I positioned my Purple Pumpkin embellishments together with some chipboard words from Scrapmatts & some leftover bling dots from Flourish with a Bling.  As I wanted a muted layout I finished off by protecting my photo with a piece of acrylic plastic while giving my page a light spray of "Calico White" by Studio Calico (Mister Hueys).

All the items shown in my first supplies photograph can be found in the Purple Pumpkin online store HERE

(Yoyo flowers, patterned fabric buttons in Large & XLarge, resin roses & flairs)
Miss you Already!

Eleanor's 1st year by Judith

Good morning. I hope the weather's a bit brighter where you are. It's very dull and overcast here.
Today I have a layout to share with you that I did for the current CSI case file. It documents 15 facts about Eleanor, my DD's first year.

And now for some close ups.
I have used a peach floral fabric button and a mint resin rose.

My other cluster included abeautiful  peach yo yo flower, a pink crocheted doily, a pale pink spotty button top and a white resin rose.

That's it for today. Hope to catch you next time.
Judith xx

An ode to the fancy bling centered flower - a layout by Yvonne Yam

Have you ever created a whole layout because you wanted to use the one embellishment that you are enamoured with?

Well, I did. It's hard to resist this Purple Pumpkin fancy bling centered flower. I created the rest of the drama on the layout just to showcase her. A steal at A$2.95.

For more details on this layout, check out this post: Old world charm tea rooms, glitter and lace.

Cherish by Julianne McKenna-De Lumen

Good morning Purple Pumpkin fans, and welcome to the start of another week. Julianne here today sharing a layout created for the June challenge at Sketches With a Twist.

I have been setting myself some personal scrapping challenges recently, and this layout is the perfect example! My first challenge, was to use some of my old stash - which I did by using the Making Memories clear word and definition stickers. They must be 5-7 years old. Scary isn't it! And my second challenge was to use a mixture of masculine and feminine colours. I achieved this by adding a small dashes of blue and grey with PP washi tape

Let's check out the close-ups! Both my daughter and I share a fondness for owls, so I decided to make this layout special by adding several owls to the the design. You can see two of them here - one on the flair button, and one on the bottle cap. Along with quite a few other Purple Pumpkin goodies - a tulle bling flower, crochet doilies, and kraft tags

I love how the bright bold colours of the crochet flower and washi tapes, contrast with the softer shades of pink and white. It really makes the colours pop, and has helped create a visual triangle with the splashes of orange colour. Who would have known that navy blue, grey, pink, and orange, can work together so beautifully!

I've also added numerous circles to my layout to create visual interest, along with splashes of of mist spray, and random sprinklings of rhinestones.
Thank-you for stopping by and allowing me to share my creation with you.
Maybe I have inspired you to even set some of your own personal scrapping challenges?

Have a great week, and don't forget to drop by tomorrow for even more inspiration from the Purple Pumpkin team!!!

Swing King by Karen Grose

Hi Purple Pumpkin fans, Karen here again.  It is miserable weather here right now, perfect for staying indoors and scrapping!!!  This LO I've created is for the current challenge at Anna's Craft Cupboard.  Plenty of PP goodness on here to share with you

SWING KING

I love using bright colors at the moment, and I had some cute PP embellies to go with this photo of my son back in 2008.  I've used a gorgeous fabric button (giraffe) and one of the super versatile fabric heart buttons.  As well as that I've used one of my faves - the Flair Star button along with some trusty old tickets around the border of my picture.  Throw some of the ever so funky Washi Tape - Small Stars Red, and you have yourself a bright, fun and funky LO :)

Some close ups of the gorgeous buttons

And the Heart Fabric button

So there you have it.  I hope I have inspired you some small way today.  Don't forget you still have plenty of time to play along with our monthly sketch challenge, and win yourself some of these super funky embellishments to play with.

Have a scrappy week  :)

An Off-The-Page Project by Helen Tilbury

Hi!  Well I hope to WOW you with this one!!
One of my favourite Purple Pumpkin projects to date!!!

At Scrapmatts this month we got to construct & decorate this little
'Memory Cabinet'.  It arrived flat-packed & terrified the life out of me
but came with detailed instructions & I managed to make it quite quickly!

I'm sending mine to a sweet online friend in America who brings sunshine
into my life, so I decided to go with cheery yellows & oranges
& used many little bits & pieces from Purple Pumpkin.

Here you can see that I used 2 XL fabric covered buttons & 2 regular sized ones available HERE. I also used a multi-coloured crochet flower tucked into the corner behind the heart button - you can buy that doily flower HERE & there are various different colour-ways to choose from.

In the othere side of the cabinet I used even MORE Purple Pumpkin goodies!

I used 2 jumbo fabric buttons in awesome floral designs, that I can't see in the store right now - I do hope they will come back though as they are really pretty!

I also used a yellow spotty button available HERE, a resin rose available HERE, and in the bottom section a cameo {not available at present} & a yoyo flower available HERE.

I also used quite a few wooden patterned buttons available HERE.

If you are interested in seeing & reading more about this little project
of mine you can visit my blog at http://helentilbury.blogspot.com
where I will have it up shortly with more close-ups, etc.

Purple Pumpkin supplies are perfect for using on Off-The-Page projects -
my only advice is to hot-glue the items on using a good glue-gun that
heats up really well, just be careful as they can burn you really badly!

The hot-glue is the strongest form of adhesive I've ever come across
{and the cheapest too!} so is perfect for things displayed out in the
open that are subject to more handling than our scrapbook pages.
