I would have to definitely class myself as a "Stash" builder and there are certain items that I am continually picking up as they are a staple in my collection. Two of them are the spotty buttons and any form of twine, which nearly always feature on my layouts in one form or another.
So today I am sharing a layout I did for the May Sketch Challenge at Anna's Craft Cupboard.
Once again I have used the very versatile red spotty buttons in two sizes. First one has been used on top of some layered Sass Lass stickers and the second one which is the smaller variety has been used on another Sass Lass flower sticker. I know I have said it before, but I really love these buttons and are great to have in your collection as they can be really easily adapted to both a boy and girl layout and the uses for them are endless!
My other neccesity is twine!! I was so excited when Sam told us she was getting twine in, and then I saw the colours!!
The red and white twine was perfect for this page. Firstly I wrapped it a few times around two brads and tied a bow and then in the upper RH side ( sorry don't have any close-ups) I tried something different and wrapped it around the button and stapled it to the top of the page.
There is just so much you can do with twine and there is quite a few colours for you to purchase and it's only $1.75 for 5metres. So don't forget next sale to add it to your order!!

Sweet Clusters with Belinda
Good morning Purple Pumpkin followers!!!
Belinda here today with some layouts to share. Most of my layouts (or maybe all of them?!) include clusters of embellishments; doilies, chipboard, flowers etc. My most favourite addition to my clusters is a Purple Pumpkin button. It is not hard to find one that will coordinate with whatever the theme of your layout may be.
For this first layout I have used four buttons from various packs. You can mix and match your packs with ease as they do work so well together. I have given all of these buttons a little colour on the edges using some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I just rubbed it on using a sponge. I have also added some green and white twine to my banner title. I wanted it to flow and loop across the banner so I simply added some dots of Helmar 450 in strategic positions..
...and here are a few close-ups of the clusters...
...I have gone for a bit of a vintage look for this second layout to coordinate with the beautiful mix of My Mind's Eye pattern papers. So as per my previous blog entries, I have whipped out my favourite Sand Glimmermist and given the Purple Pumpkin buttons a blast. One of these days I am going to try a different Glimmermist colour!! LOL Even though this is a boy layout, I have still added flowers to the embellishment clusters. I see nothing wrong with adding flowers to a boy page and these are in masculine colours so I think I can get away with it...
...and here are the close-ups showing how I have Glimmermisted the buttons, layered on top of doilies that I die cut from patterned paper and then added the brown and white twine around them...
...And this last layout I created using a The Color Room palette. It features our buck who we call Mr Bean because he loves to eat broad beans. This layout has two main clusters of doilies, flowers, leaves, chipboard and Purple Pumpkin buttons....
...Of course I had to use my very favourite little deer button on this layout...
...as well as this lovely pattern button...
Well that is all from me today. Thankyou so much for stopping by the Purple Pumpkin blog. I hope you have a terrific weekend and don't forget the next sale is not far away!! YIPPEEEE!!
Cheers

Change them, pull them apart!!
So sometimes I just don't have the right embellishment in my Purple Pumpkin stash for the page that I'm working on (although not often, this does happen sometimes!)
If this happens to you, please feel free to change or pull apart your Purple Pumpkin embellishments to suit YOUR layout!
In the layout below, I have pulled apart a Spotty Button Top so I could use the only blue button I had left in my stash...
I have also pulled apart one of these flowers, as the space I had to fill didn't fill the whole flower. I will be able to use the leftover bits on another layout in the future.
Don't feel like you shouldn't pull your embellishments apart, you are entitled to be creative and change things up to suit yourself, as I have done for my layout Jared's Day.
And a closeup...
As you can see, I've also used the gorgeous Purple Pumpkin twine in two colours and two different places on my layout. Make sure you stock up twine in the next sale, its so the 'in thing' at the moment!
Thanks for visiting the Purple Pumpkin blog today, see you again soon!
Cheers,
Sar

Guest Designer - Monica Brady
Good morning!! Today we have our first Guest Designer, Monica Brady, who was given an assortment of Purple Pumpkin goodies to play with. Before I share a few of her GORGEOUS layouts, here's a bit about Monica...
I love Purple Pumpkin embellishments! I think my scrapbooking style is "simple" I like to play with lots of patterned papers and add just a touch of embellishments to my layouts. I have been scrapbooking for 7 years now and love it more and more everyday! With 4 children, I'm kept busy, busy, busy during the day. However once they are snuggled in their beds I get out my scrapping supplies and have a little bit of "me" time.
Here's the first layout Monica created...
The pink button is one of our medium sized buttons, and the white one is one of out NEW colourful spotty buttons, on an XL button. Using two buttons of varying sizes next to each other on a layout creates interest on the layout, and can have a lot more impact than just using a button on its own. And how cute is that little bow?
And how perfect is that Pink Felt Flower on this "Pink" layout?
For her next layout, Monica has created a gorgeous boy page...
Spotty Buttons, and Spotty Denims are the perfect fun embellishment to finish of those boy pages! We all know it can be tricky finding embellishments to suit boyish layouts, but these add just the right handmade touch without looking at all girly...
And I love how Monica has used the Twine in this layout, what a great look!
Now, I'll be back tomorrow to share some more of Monica's gorgeous layouts with you, but in the meantime, make sure you check out Monica's Blog! There's lots of scrapping inspiration to be found over there. And do you know what? Everyone who leaves a comment on both this blog and Monica's blog for today and tomorrow, will go into the running to receive a mixed pack of 10 picture buttons. The winner will be announced on Friday!

Perfect Embellishment
Hello everyone,
Hope you all had a lovely weekend :)) They go too quick tho hey!
Well just a little share today. Do you remember these little cuties???? I couldn't wait to use them on some layouts!!!
Now you have to please excuse the poor quality photo of this layout. We had very overcast and dull weather today, so my photo isn't really great. But I just love this little cute tiger button...a very PERFECT addition to my layout. Everytime I look at these cute buttons...they make me smile. They are so bright and fun. Adds a lot of spunk to a layout I reckon!
Close up... Can you also see that blue doiley?? I cut a PP doiley (EEK!!) into fours and layered it up underneath my paper for a different look.

Sketch Sample for May - Hayley
Well I hope you are all planning on getting done the May Sketch Challenge, it is such a versatile sketch. I have chosen to use it as is and just added a few extra elements.
I have added a banner which I cut some triangles in some co-ordinating papers, inked them and mounted them. I then have used some red twine form Purple Pumpkin to finish off the banner.
as you can see also I had to add the car button as well as the colours were too perfect not to.
Lastly I have mounted a Large Dino button on top of a scallop, I also inked the outside in black.
So it is as easy as that and don't forget to link your layout over on the right hand side so we can all admire your work:)

More Purple Pumpkin Fun with Anne
Hi Everyone. Hope you have all had a great start to your weekend. First of all I would like to share with you all, my take on the Purple Pumpkin Sketch Challenge.
As you can see I have combined some of the Purple Pumpkin Hessian flower, with an early denim button and then some spotty buttons.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, my boys were in a wedding and this is a picture I snapped of them. I have used a Creative Scrappers sketch. I also used some of the ribbon off of the car (as we had some on our car as well) but I have combined it with one of the devine satin flowers. The original flower had small spotty red button in the middle, but I swapped it out for a green one to go with my LO.
Then, I'm off to a 30th Birthdy party tonight for a scrappy pal and I wanted to make her a card which I know she will appreciate.
For something a little different, I have added some dimensional magic to the white sections of the button. I LOVE how this turned out.
Thanks for Looking and I hope you all get time to play along with our challenge this month.

Gorgeous and Girly...
Just to even the score a little I thought I had better get cracking with some girl layouts. I seem to be doing a lot of layouts for my son because I have been so inspired by all of the Purple Pumpkin boy buttons and twine. However, there are just as many absolutely beautiful girl buttons and embellishments.
For this first layout I really wanted to use the Graphic 45 Once Upon A Springtime papers. The button and doily weren't quite the right colour for the papers though. SO the solution?? Yep, you guessed it...I got out my old favourite...Sand Glimmermist. Just a light spray over the beautiful floral button and doily and they were perfectly coordinated. Sam's embellishments are such good quality that they really can handle a bit of altering. So if you find that any of your embellies aren't quite the right colour for your project, don't be afraid to grab some Glimmermist (it doesn't have to be Sand) or ink or even gesso or white paint. Just remeber it is always easier to apply a little to start with and then add a bit more colour if you need to rather than try to remove some if you apply too much...
...Here is a close-up of the button and doily so you can see how I have altered them with the Glimmermist...
...This second layout is one I created using a palette from The Colo(u)r Room. It is a completely different look to the first layout with lots of vibrant colours. I have used doilies, mini doilies and the sweetest gorgeous girl button...
...and a little close-up of that sweet button with the doilies...
...Isn't that the most adorable button? I used that button the very day I received it in the mail. That's how much I love it!!
Thanks so much for visiting and for your lovely comments. We truly appreciate each and every one and hope you are feeling inspired by all of the Design Team's projects. Don't forget to come back tomorrow for some more fabulous inspiration and...
...have a happy weekend!!
