Getting Messy by Sar

Recently on retreat in Melbourne I was lucky enough to spend time with 25 amazing women, all with such talent and inspiration to share.  I sought out the very talented Ebony Van Der Starre and asked her to teach me a thing or two about getting messy.  For anyone that knows me...I don't DO messy!  I am a very clean scrapper, everything has pretty straight lines and my hands don't get very messy.  Well...can I just tell you...Ebony has changed me!!!

I have found texture, and texture paint, and paint, and stamping....and and and...I'm SO excited about it!  Thanks Ebony!

Here's a layout I did yesterday, using some texture stuff...but not the white one, its a kind of clear one that takes on the colour of paint or mist you use with it.  I didn't plan how this would turn out, which is so unlike me...instead I just went for it!

Blitz Babes - my daughters and their little dancing friends at a recent eisteddfod, aren't they all just super cute!  I actually kinda ended up covering up most of my messiness with my photo...

A closeup of the gorgeous little button from Purple Pumpkin.

Here's another that isn't quite as messy, but uses a paint technique that Crystal showed me at retreat, thanks Crystal!

This layout is a scraplift from former Purple Pumpkin DT member, Tara.  I love Tara's work and was looking for something kind of minimalist, and the page my layout is based on jumped out of Tara's blog right at me.

Classic Moment, a layout of my funny boy Cooper on Christmas Day wearing a funky plastic moustache out of a xmas cracker.
And a closeup of the Purple Pumpkin button, doiley & twine that I've used as well as the tickets popping out from underneath the photo...LOTS of PP goodness happening here!
Thanks for visiting the Purple Pumpkin blog today, see you again soon!

Cheers,
Sar

Cute as a Cupcake - By Crece

Hope everyones weekend had been fab! Hope you crafted up a storm yesterday 5th May as it was National Scrapbooking Day...How did you celebrate it?  I created my layout that I thought I would share with you. Its of my Little Boy Fletch, he made some cupcakes a little while back all on his own (i just did the oven stuff) He made Chocolate Cupcakes with Pink Icing. His favorite colour in the rainbow is Pink! so I know I can get away with a little pink on his layouts.

Sorry there are no close ups...my camera battery is flat and takes forever to charge...but i can tell you the Purple Pumpkin products that are featured on the layout are...
Large denim and Pink flower, red.pink.yellow and green tickets, pink crochet border (i cut) and aqua/qhite bakers twine to create the word 'Cupcake' for the title.

Thanks for looking and have a great week

Wall canvas and more...

Well, hello there everyone... Gwen here with a few bits to share...

First up, my very first wall canvas.  A good friend of mine had a baby recently, and another friends hubby took some beautiful shots of her... and well, that's where I came in to create - pretty pleased with how my first one ever turned out :)

Close ups first...

Can you see the Kindy glitz I swiped on top?  ahhh pretty...
Another spotty button and a Bird button and pink doily.

and now the full version...

Isn't she a princess :)

I also wanted to show you a couple of cards I made with the cute little bird buttons and my most fav, twine. I've used some journalling shapes too and will add my sentiment when the occasion arises, they are great to have on hand for "Thank you's" and "Get Well Soon's" which can be unexpected!!

Hope you all get some time to create this weekend, especially all you scrappers on National Scrapbooking Day, tomorrow.

Until next time :)
Gwen

Guest designer - Judith Armstrong

I was so excited to find out I was to be a guest designer for Purple Pumpkin as I am such a big fan from way back. I have a huge stash and it is my pleasure to show you how I have used some PP products.
First up is Big Lizzie. This is a layout of my son when we went up to Mildura to visit his grandfather. Big Lizzie is a huge old prime mover built in 1916, which is now parked on the roadside at Red Cliffs on the way to Mildura.  One of my favourite products (besides the buttons) are the vinyl cogs that Sam produces and I was thrilled to find some in my GD pack.

Here is a close up my embellie cluster which includes a PP black doily, PP black vinyl cog and 2 PP buttons – skull and cross bones and a red spotty button.

This next close up shows a snippet of a black vinyl cog which I cut up so that I could make it go further. I also used some pp red tickets which I stamped with a black arrow, which I think looked great.

 My next layout is Waiting.

Sam sent be a purple kit in my GD kit and as luck would have it purple is my DD’s favourite colour so I have loads of photos of her wearing purple! This layout is based around the multicoloured large button you can see in this closeup.
Luckily I had some photos to match of DD and her best friend Rachel, when I took them to see Open for Inspection at The Block last year. Waiting was the theme of the day as the queue was probably a mile long and we didn’t get anywhere close to seeing inside the houses.
Here are another couple of close ups showing pp buttons, a purple pp doily which I cut in 2, some pp cabochons and some purple twine.
The third layout I created using my GD kit was Purple and denim, my DD’s favourite choice of clothes at the moment
And here is a close up of the fabulous PP purple and denim flower which I based my layout around.

I have created heaps more layouts using Purple Pumpkin products and you can find them on my blog at http://judith-pagesofmemories.blogspot.com.au/

I would just like to end by thanking Sam and Sandra for having me as Guest Designer.

Stuck...

You should get some Purple Pumpkin and this month and create a masterpiece.... This is a layout i created for Stuck. Its based on a sketch designed by Sara.
This sketch meant i could use up the millions of photos i captured of my girls playing together at our local dam. They did have some fun and having it on sports mode on the camera meant that i got all the action shots as well.
The alphabet buttons can go with all types of styled layouts.
And i just love my doileys....so bright and cheerful.... So what are you waiting for.....i would love to see your layout in our Purple Pumpkin gallery.
