Hi from Freezing NZ!!

I'm not joking it is really cold (5 degrees c) - well by Auckland standards anyway. Good excuse to stay inside and scrap though.
I would like to share this page with you today that I did for my DT challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge blog.The theme is 'Father's/Grandfather's', or 'father figures'. Here is the sketch that you need to use.

My photos were taken on Benji's 3rd birthday. His Oma and Opa were visiting with presents for him and we opened them in the garden together. Benji chose to sit on Opas knee whilst he opened his gifts and I'm not sure who had the most fun, Benji or Opa!

My papers are from the Kaisercraft 'Fine and Sunny' collection (with a few scraps of October Afternoon). I really love the bright colours and fun prints of this collection. It is one of my fav. Kaisercraft releases ever. Since all my photos were the same size I used tags to give the impression of the graduated heights shown on the sketch.

Look at those adorable Purple Pumpkin fabric/leather flowers and fabric buttons. They really enhance the page. Don't be afraid to alter your PP embellishments - the flowers initially had a small button in the centre but I replaced them with larger fabric buttons which matched my page better. I made the two flowers from one larger one which I separated. I am addicted to Bakers twine too - PP has such a huge range of colours that there is twine to match every page or project. Here I used an aqua /white twine. To get the twine exactly where I want it I first draw the path that I want it to take in pencil then go over the pencil line with a glue pen before adhering the twine to my page.

My turn to share with you today :)
It is freezing cold here in Auckland as I write this (well its 2 degrees c which is about as cold as it gets here!) I am definitely not a winter person so I took out these photos of Natalie that I took back in January on our summer vacation to cheer myself up. I used a combination of papers here - mainly the lovely 'Miss Caroline' range from MME but also a little Kaisercraft and OA thrown in. I used the Studio Calico wooden butterflies as masks to spray over my background then I layered on my photos and embellies.
Isn't that Purple Pumpkin fabric heart button perfect? They come in heaps of colours to match any colour scheme. I think they are one of my favourite PP products (I have LOTS of favourites though lol). Anyway, I matted it on a PP doily (Cut in half so I could use the other half above the photos -
these cute doilies are much to good to cover up!) and grounded my elements with lots of Purple Pumpkin bakers twine. Here is a close up:

The MME banner made a perfect title for my page and a little strip journaling was the finishing touch. Now I'm off to warm up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate - OK not everything about winter sucks!!!

Girly Girl

Happy Friday Everyone!! Woot Woot, My most fav day of the week.

A few weeks ago our lovley Chantal shared a super bright layout with us (yes, brighter than her usual hehe) AND I was inspired to step out and challenge myself with a bit of colour too.  There are so so many beautiful bright PP buttons to choose from, but funny enough, I went with Pink.... so much for stepping out of my comfort zone!!

I have "roughed up" my denim and pink flower and added Gesso then switched up the centre button for a spotty button.  I've added some twine and 2 more 1" buttons to round out the cluster.

These heart buttons are so cute, this one I have simply added to the centre of a butterfly to create a feature.

and the full layout, no sun glasses required :)

I also added a cute Purple Pumpkin resin flower to the centre of the 2nd butterfly and the brightest doilies I could find in my stash.  I think this has to be the brightest layout I've ever done!!

I also have a quick card to share I created for a dear friend... I've been 'saving' this jumbo Pooh button for a special occasion; it is the sweetest thing eva!  Definitely adding more of these to my list for the next sale. 

Now those are more my colours!! :)

Here's something fun to try (if you dare!) ;)

 

Hello everyone!  Chantal here with you today.  This layout I'm sharing with you today was such a fun layout to create!  I have used my acetate and paint background technique, which just so happens to be featured as the "technique of the month" in the newest issue of Scrapbooking Memories. :) 

So after creating my background, I've fussy-cut my photo and super-imposed it over the top.  This gives it that extra wow-factor... and really makes the lovely photo stand out I think. :)

Okay now brace yourselves, this is a something perhaps not for the faint hearted (LOL)...

The doilies and spotty dotty buttons are, of course, from Purple Pumpkin's fab store.  But hmmmm.... what's happened to that pale blue Spotty Dotty button?!  Yes, that Spotty Dotty button on the left HAS in fact been cut!  LOL!  With normal scissors too - they are suprisingly easy to cut!!!  So super fun!!!

I've also used some yummy Yellow Baker's Twine, tied in knots and stapled across my page for a bit of a "grounding" factor.

One more closie..

I love using every last piece of my completely cut-up doilies.  See it peeking out there above my sun?  It just gives a nice subtle tad of depth.

Soooo what do you think?  Do you want to get your scissors and cut up a Spotty Dotty or two? ;)

YOUR A HOOT!!

Hi Ladies, Stacey with you here today, I just got back from the papercraft expo in brisbane. WOW what a great weekend, lots of shopping and catching up with old friends and meeting lots of new ones, i even got to meet Gwen from here. Now that i back im very busy with some DT commitments and in the middle of packing, we are moving to QLD in 2 weeks, so flat out here, just 1 layout to share.This page was based on a sketch from Kristines Davidsons E-BOOK.

I just love this owl button, I've had it in my stash for a while now, just waiting to use it.
I also used a piece of the doily boarder that i had left over from another page, it was the perfect fit for under the photo.

Then i sprayed the doily a mint green colour and wrapped some twine around the spotty button and added a ticket to the cluster.

Well its nearly half way through the month, still  plenty of time left to enter this months sketch comp.
A huge congrats to last month winners.

I thought this cute little owl button was perfect for my cute little niece with her many changing faces...LOL

And lastly i completed a blind challenge last month over at Scrapmatts. This is what i designed based on the instructions.



I just loved the cute little girly button which i thought complimented my layout perfectly.
